Marzo 2024 Autumn a Lo Spazio dell'Arte e Sartoria
Autumn Jordan, a Masters Student at Rome Business School for an International Masters in Fashion Management, found her time volunteering at Lo Spazio dell'Arte e Sartoria to be a profoundly rewarding journey, immersed in the rich authenticity of running a business while learning the history and artistry of Italian fashion. Over the past two months, she dedicated herself to digitizing the shop's cherished vintage collection over the past two months. The collection included wonderful pieces from brands like Luisa Spagnoli, Lady's Bazaar, Max Mara, Moschino, Galitzine, Fendi, List, Furla, and more! Cataloging each piece, she aimed to learn and preserve its unique story. Surprisingly, her favorite aspect of crafting window displays was not the creative styling process but rather observing the engaging reactions of customers and passersby to the displays. Working closely with Elena was a delight; her insightful feedback allowed for numerous subtle adjustments, refining the displays to perfection.
In a world often driven by consumption, Lo Spazio dell'Arte e Sartoria stands as a catalyst for sustaining a circular economy in the Monteverde community. As a spazio poliedrico, offering upcycling and tailor services, a vintage shop, as well as classes & workshops, it is guided by the inspiring motto of 'no al consumismo'. Here, fashion is not just fabric; it's a narrative, a connection to the past, and a sustainable choice for the future. Every stitch, every button, tells a tale of craftsmanship and timeless elegance.
As we step into the vibrant seasons of spring and summer, Lo Spazio dell'Arte e Sartoria announces the unveiling of our exquisite vintage collection, where stories of bygone eras are brought to life. From the elegant timeless floral silks of Galitzine, to high equality leathers of Fendi or Furla, to trendy vintage of Moschino and Lady’s Bazar, each piece carries a whisper of history, now accessible to all with prices reflecting our commitment to sustainability.
The project of curating a vintage collection in collaboration with a photographer was inspired by the distinctive style of these dresses, aiming to highlight fashion details through an online exhibition, that can be seen here.
Looking ahead, we are excited to stir creativity and passion within the community through an upcoming arts workshop for students taught in English this September. It will be a celebration of artistry, where the magic of vintage fashion meets the boundless imagination of budding artists.
Join us at Lo Spazio dell'Arte e Sartoria, not just as shoppers, but as stewards of history and champions of sustainable style.
Arte = qui passano artistsi.
